FAQ

What teams ask us before they start.

The questions that usually come up in a first meeting, limitations included.

General

What is Payloot?

A platform that manages the benefits you offer customers (promotions, coupons, wallets, gift cards, referrals and loyalty) from a single engine. Explore the platform

Who is it for?

Retailers selling online, in store or both: single stores, franchises and multi-brand groups.

Do I need my own promotions engine?

No. If you have one, Payloot connects to it. If you don't, Payloot becomes your engine. See both paths

How much does it cost?

It depends on your architecture, transaction volume and store count. Request a quote

Promotions & coupons

What kinds of promotions can I create?

Buy one, get one, 3 for 2 and any buy X, get Y; tiered discounts; bundles; gifts with purchase; segment-based discounts; order-level discounts; and shipping promotions. See promotions & coupons

Can I limit a promotion to certain days, stores or customers?

Yes: by day and time, region, channel and segment, with per-customer usage caps.

How do I keep a deep discount from being overused?

Require customers to identify themselves. Payloot then checks whether they're eligible and whether they've already used the offer.

Can I test a promotion before it goes live?

Yes. The simulator shows the exact breakdown. See the simulator

Does Payloot handle installment plans?

Not as a promotion. Interest-free installment plans, common in Mexico as meses sin intereses, are a payment method handled by your payment gateway or processor.

Can I run promotions by bank or card type?

No. For security, card BINs aren't used inside the platform.

Order recalculation

What happens if an item is substituted after payment?

Payloot recalculates the order and keeps, removes or replaces the promotion based on your rules. See order recalculation

Does someone have to review every order?

No. The system detects the change and applies the right benefit, with no one stepping in and without pausing fulfillment.

Does it work with any payment method?

Typically with card payments. Other methods are scoped with our professional services team.

What if the substitute costs more or less?

There are several ways to handle it, defined with professional services based on how you operate. See professional services

Loyalty, wallets & referrals

Do customers need to download an app?

No. They can use Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or a code or card in store.

Can customers earn points for things other than purchases?

Yes: sign-ups, newsletter subscriptions, social activity, campaigns and more. See loyalty & wallets

Can I run double points without changing what a point is worth?

Yes. Earning and redeeming are set up separately, so an earning campaign never changes a point's value at checkout.

Are gift cards managed separately?

No. Payloot manages them alongside every other benefit, with the same channel rules.

How does the referral program work?

After a confirmed delivery, the customer gets a unique code. Their friend gets a discount, and they earn credit. See referrals

Technology & integration

How does Payloot connect?

Through a REST API, with native connectors for SAP, VTEX and Oracle Commerce. See integrations

How fast do changes go live?

Instantly, in store and online, with no waiting on syncs.

Does Payloot use caching?

Not to calculate promotions: every cart is evaluated live. If you connect your own engine and need to protect it, we can design a caching layer.

Is there API documentation?

Yes, for the public APIs. Specialized APIs, such as bulk loads, are enabled with hands-on support from our engineers. See technology

What if my operation isn't standard?

Our professional services team handles what the platform doesn't cover out of the box: caching, custom connectors, other payment methods and more. See professional services

How long does implementation take?

It depends on the path you choose and the systems to connect. We give you an estimate after discovery.

Didn't find your answer?
